Pop star Mariah Carey has hinted that she's a surprise fan of hit Channel 4 show Gogglebox after she revealed she was over the moon to have been featured on the UK series. The 50 year old singer's Christmas special show, which is available on subscription service Apple TV, aired during a segment on a recent episode of Gogglebox.

Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ has hit the number one spot in the UK singles chart for – and you might want to sit down for this – the first time since it was released 26 years ago.That’s right, one of the most enduring Christmas songs never actually reached number one when it was originally released in 1994. Back then, it was pipped to the post by the less festive (but still enduring) ‘Stay Another Day’ by East 17.

While we're now accustomed with Christmas classics making a triumphant return to the chart every December, this trend is relatively recent. It all started in 2007, when downloading had fully established itself as the favourite way to purchase singles, thus making it easier for old singles to re-enter the Top 40.

Mariah Carey’s wish comes true as her iconic festive hit All I Want For Christmas Is You finally reaches Number 1 on the Official UK Singles Chart 26 years after its release, and breaks a new Official Chart record in the process, the Official Charts Company can confirm.

Mariah Carey has responded to a fan who is campaigning for ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ to reach Number One on the Official UK Singles Chart.The track has never reached the top spot in the UK, peaking at Number Two, despite having become a festive classic since its release in 1994.Fan Jeffrey Ingold is campaigning to change that and give the track and Carey her third UK Number One single.
