China’s Hainan Island International Film Festival Returns As In-Person Event; Competition Titles Include ‘Aftersun’, ‘Saint Omer’, ‘The Beasts’

Holy Spider breakout Zar Amir Ebrahimi will head the jury of the Nordic Competition at the 46th Göteborg Film Festival, running from January 27 – February 5.

In a year where most consultants felt there was little competition for the 15 film shortlist, well, there wasn’t. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the remaining International Film contenders and it was somewhat predictable.

This year’s International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) has unveiled the 16 films selected for its flagship Tiger Competition. Scroll down for the full list.

Deadline reports that the Berlin Film Festival has its titles for its Panorama section this February. And while not the Festival’s main titles in competition, it’s a stellar crop of films annually.

Alaric McAusland Tapped For MD Role At DNEG’s New Sydney HubTop Australian film exec Alaric McAusland has joined VFX and animation company DNEG’s new Sydney hub as managing director and will take up the role in January 2023. The 2023 Sundance Film Festival is almost a month away and this morning the Sundance Institute revealed the Indie Episodic and Short Film slates for the festival. 64 shorts were selected from 10,981 submissions, the highest on record.
