Fans at a Girls Aloud concert were left shocked when a keen fan nearly "yanked Cheryl off the stage,” reportedly leaving the pop sensation shaken. When the girl band announced their comeback after 11 years away, fans couldn't wait to watch the group kick off their first tour in more than a decade.
However, amongst the sea of adoring fans cheering on their tribute to the late Sarah Harding, one concert-goer at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle took it a step too far by trying to drag Cheryl off stage. During an intense moment, as Cheryl reached out to fans in the VIP pit near the front of the stage, a security person's swift action saved Cheryl from a fall.
The drama didn't go unnoticed, with attendees being quick to post about it on X (formerly known as Twitter). One wrote: "Some bloke tried to yank Cheryl off stage during Girls Aloud in Newcastle tonight.” Another said: "To the person who tried to pull Cheryl off the stage at Girls Aloud in Newcastle tonight, you are NOT a fan,no real fan would ever dream of doing something so terrible." Another shocked onlooker shared: "Cheryl almost getting grabbed and almost pulled off the stage by an audience member in Newcastle." The girl group, which now consists of Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh have been touring the UK - 21 years since they won Popstars: The Rivals.
It was recently reported that Cheryl is feeling like she 'needs a break'.
The 40 year old star is mum to son Bear, six, and - as much as she's impressing concert goers with her incredible vocals and dance moves - Cheryl is finding it hard being away from him. "Cheryl is loving the tour so far and has been enjoying being back on stage with the other girls and seeing fans," a source said.
