The UK's cheapest online supermarket has officially been revealed and the winner has managed to narrowly avoid the competition and hold onto their reigning crown.
Asda has been named as the current cheapest online supermarket by Alertr.co.uk, as it managed to beat out Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's for the title.
The news comes as rising rates of inflation and the cost of living crisis has led to consumers grappling with higher costs on everything from energy costs to their weekly groceries.
The price-tracking website closely monitored the prices across six of the UK's largest supermarkets and found that Asda was currently offering shoppers the lowest prices.
Based on a basket of 42 items, the supermarket was found to have beaten other grocers by a fair amount with a total coming to just £109.86.
The shopping list included a variety of general grocery list products, including eggs, milk and bread, as well as non-perishables such as pasta, rice and cereal.
It comes after the supermarket chain made a promise to increase the amount of budget-priced food in stores by rolling out their full Smart Price range in every store across the country.
Tesco managed to knock Sainsbury's off their reigning runner-up position with a basket total of £115.63, while Sainsbury's slipped down the ranks with a total of £117.62.
On the opposite end, Waitrose also managed to retain their own crown as the longest-reigning for the most expensive supermarket with a total of £128.74.
