Christmas gifts can end up costing hundreds, but a handy online tool can help shoppers determine what days they can get the best deals.
While it is understandable to want to treat loved ones to nice things over the holiday, it's always better when you can get them for cheaper. With the cost of living crisis in full swing, people will be looking for ways to buy presents at the lowest price.
One method shoppers could use is the Christmas Deals Predictor by MoneySavingExpert.com. Founded by Martin Lewis, the website has designed a guide to help plan the best time to buy and "spread the cost of Christmas".
Created by the financial expert in 2003, MoneySavingExpert.com helps consumers navigate financial decisions from banking, saving, and of course, Christmas spending.
The website's calendar broadcasts promotions from November right through to January, meaning shoppers can find Black Friday and New Year sales deals.
For example, if a shop offered a deal or had a sale on a specific date in 2018, it will document if and when it happens again the following years.
However, users are advised to take a "slightly bigger pinch of salt" with their outcomes following a "fairly unpredictable few years".
MoneySavingExpert.com said: "Last year we got 41 per cent of deals spot on and 76 per cent either spot on or only marginally out– not bad for another unpredictable year.
"We hope to get more right this year but give us some wriggle room. And as we say every year, only ever buy what you need and can afford. If you can't afford it, DON'T buy it."
This comes as new research has found that while parents plan to cut back on spending this Christmas, one area they won't be scrimping on is presents for their children.

There are more than the usual number of miracles to be observed with the latest version of A Christmas Carol to hit Broadway. The usual suspects are here, all the ghosts and spirits and flights over ye olde town and all the witnessing of things past, present and future. And there’s the miracle of one man – the great Jefferson Mays – breathing life into more than 50 characters and having us believe every single shift. And there’s the perhaps more – if only slightly more – quotidian miracle of a creative team – directors of lighting and sound and costumes and projections – at the tops of their games coming together to create gobsmacking theater magic, a blessing director Michael Arden’s Carol has in great bounty.
