Charlie Cox to Play Daredevil in ’Spider-Man: Freshman Year’; Animated Disney+ Series Renewed for Season 2

The third season of the revival will debut in 2023.“’iCarly’s’ loyal fan base grew up with Carly, Spencer and Freddie, and have now fallen in love with Harper and Millicent, too,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of streaming for Paramount+.

Paramount+ has renewed the revival for a third season, the streaming service announced Wednesday. The series will go into production later this year and will be slotted for a 2023 premiere.The sophomore season ended with Freddie's girlfriend, Pearl, confronting Carly and Freddie over their feelings for each other. Charlie Cox’s iteration of Daredevil is getting a second life via Daredevil: Born Again—a new series coming to Disney+ with an 18-episode first season in 2024. Joining Cox on the show is Vincent D’Onofrio, who reprises his role from recent Marvel series as mob boss Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin.

It’s set to debut in Spring 2024.Daredevil also showed up at the end of the “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” trailer that debuted during the panel.Cox’s Daredevil made his way back into the MCU in last year’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” in which he had a cameo role as his alter-ego Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights crime outside of his office hours.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter“For All Mankind” has been renewed for Season 4 at Apple.The announcement was made Friday as part of the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Production on the new season is scheduled to begin in August. Season 3 of the series debuted on the streamer on June 10.“For All Mankind” is an alternative history series that explores what would have happened if the global space race had never ended.

Marvel surprised fans on Friday with an exclusive first look at Spider-Man: Freshman Year, and a handful of their upcoming animated series, at a panel at Comic Con Friday, hosted by comedian Paul F. Tompkins, which included Marvel Studios head of streaming, television and animation Brad Minderbaum and head of visual development Ryan Meinerding and the creators of their upcoming animated series.

Those awaiting several trailers from Marvel’s animation panel at Comic-Con were disappointed this afternoon; of all the various shows in development, the only trailer that arrived was the just-released “I Am Groot,” starring Vin Diesel’s “Guardians of The Galaxy” character. Still, fans looking for details about their favorite upcoming animated Marvel series did receive some new information.

Jordan Moreau The animated side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding even further.After kicking off with the animated series “What If…?,” there are more previously announced shows in the works, including a Season 2 of “What If…?,” “Spider-Man: Freshman Year,” “Marvel Zombies” and “X-Men ’97.” The new shows all got first looks at San Diego Comic Con.“What If…?” explores alternate timelines in the MCU where the popular heroes we know and love have drastic changes, such as Peggy Carter taking up Captain America’s shield and turning into Captain Carter, T’Challa of Wakanda becoming Star-Lord of the Guardians of the Galaxy instead of Black Panther, and Doctor Strange becoming an evil villain named Strange Supreme. Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter made her live-action debut in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” paving the way for other potential crossovers between animation and live-action.

Jazz Tangcay Artisans EditorOscar-winning production designer Dennis Gassner had one suggestion when working with brothers Anthony and Joe Russo on the set of their latest film, “The Gray Man,” out now in theaters: “Let’s do this like a James Bond film and ‘Blade Runner 2049,’ throw it in a blender and we’ll make it work.”The espionage thriller follows Six, aka the Gray Man, a super-secret government assassin played by Ryan Gosling who finds himself on the run from a sadistic mercenary (Chris Evans). Like the Gray Man, who lives in the shadows, so do Gassner’s set tricks.The global manhunt for Six meant the Russos had planned to shoot “around the world,” but with the pandemic closing borders, that wasn’t possible. A blend of sets and exterior shoots in locations including Prague, Azerbaijan and France enabled Gassner to piece together his world.

It was also made ahead of the second season premiere of the fantasy series, which does not yet have a premiere date.
