Charissa Gilmore, a Disney veteran of more than 30 years, has been promoted to SVP of Corporate Communications for Disney General Entertainment. This is a title bump for Gilmore who has been leading corporate communications for the unit and will continue to report to Peter Rice, chairman of General Entertainment for The Walt Disney Company.
In her role, Gilmore is responsible for external and internal corporate communications strategies and execution across DGE’s portfolio of content brands including 20th Television, ABC Entertainment, ABC News, ABC Signature, Disney Branded Television, Freeform, FX, Hulu Originals, National Geographic and Onyx Collective.
“Charissa’s such an important and trusted partner to me and my leadership team, as well as to her colleagues throughout the company,” said Rice. “Beyond her exceptional professional expertise, I deeply value her thoughtful advice, her candid feedback and her ability to maintain poise under pressure. Gilmore has spent her career at Disney in communications and marketing for media. Prior to her current role, she served as VP, Global Distribution Communications for Disney|ABC Television where she oversaw the regional marketing and publicity teams supporting content sales and distribution across EMEA, Asia and Latin America. Before that, she was head of Communications at ABC Studios leading corporate communications and publicity. During Gilmore’s tenure, the studio launched such hit series as Lost, Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy, which continues to be the longest-running medical drama in television history.
