Chappell Roan just did her first late night talk show interview and it was everything we hoped it would be!
The 26-year-old budding music superstar showed off her personality and humor during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (June 20) in New York City.
Chappell opened up about the inspiration behind her unique on-stage outfits.
“My stylist Genesis Webb and I pull from drag, we pull from horror movies, we pull from burlesque, we pull from theater,” she said. “I love looking pretty and scary. Or, like, pretty and tacky. Or just not pretty. I love that too.”
Chappell added, “I just think it’s just not serious. I love that fans find such deep meanings to things and I’m just like, ‘I don’t know, I thought I looked hot.’ Like, I don’t know if it’s anything more than that.”
During the interview, Chappell also talked about the Google search result on her name, which automatically shows, “Did you mean: your favorite artist’s favorite artist.” Chappell said this quote during a recent festival performance.

“I didn’t do that,” Chappell said. “No, it’s this random twink who works at Google, I know it is. I know it’s just some assistant, [that’s like], ‘Ooh we love her.’”
Chappell also explained why she said that quote.
“Sasha Colby said, ‘I’m your favorite drag queen’s favorite drag queen,’ and I was like, it just hit me through the heart,” she said about the Drag Race star. “And so I was like, I hope Sasha Colby one day watches me, and that’s why I said it.”
