CBS News Journalist Maria Mercader Passes Away From Coronavirus

Nick Cordero, the 41-year-old Broadway actor who has been sedated in the intensive care unit since April 1, is having his leg amputated amid complications that have resulted from his battle with COVID-19.Cordero's wife, Amanda Kloots, shared the somber news in an Instagram story Saturday afternoon (April 18)."We got some difficult news yesterday," she said in a video update on Cordero's coronavirus fight.

Broadway star Nick Cordero may never walk again after spending weeks fighting for his life in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center amid a battle with COVID-19.

Roman Reigns penned an emotional tribute to the WWE Hall of Fame ring announcer Howard Finkel. WWE lost its legendary announcer, who was fondly known as The Fink, at the age of 69.

Nick Cordero is currently fighting for his life in the ICU while battling coronavirus.

Broadway and TV star Nick Cordero remains in critical condition after undergoing medical procedures and having to be resuscitated amid his hospitalization for the novel coronavirus, his wife Amanda Kloots says. The fitness trainer had revealed on Instagram on April 1 that the 41-year-old Tony-nominated actor, father of their 10-month-old son Elvis, was admitted to an ICU after experiencing pneumonia-like symptoms.

CBS News is mourning the loss of Maria Mercader, a network veteran who covered breaking news for nearly three decades and, most recently, helped shape strategy for the network's correspondents and reporters. 

Maria Mercader, whose work at CBS News helped deliver the division’s breaking news from the U.S. and around the world to viewers, died Sunday due to coronavirus, CBS News said. She was 54 years old and had been on medical leave for an unrelated matter since the last week in February.
