A care home in Rochdale has been closed down over safety failings. Meavy View Retirement Home, on Milkstone Road, has been in special measures since April 2023.
The most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection report, published in March, identified trip hazards and choking risks, resulting in another 'inadequate' rating - the second in just over a year.

CQC bosses said they put the home in special measures to 'protect people', and vowed to keep the facility under close review.
MTCARE Property Limited, which runs the home, has been rated either 'requires improvement' or 'inadequate' following its last five inspections.
The CQC has now has removed the registration of the care provider, citing safety concerns.
A CQC spokesperson said: "Following an inspection of Meavy View Retirement Home in Milkstone Rd, Rochdale, run by MTCARE Property Limited, CQC took action to remove their registration, in effect cancelling the service.
"MTCARE Property Limited appealed our decision to the first-tier tribunal in line with legal process. They withdrew their appeal on April 22, meaning that service will close as the provider is now de-registered.
"People who live at Meavy View are being supported by the local authority to move to alternative accommodation. People using services should receive safe, effective and high-quality care that meets their needs.
"Where that isn’t happening, we take action to support services to improve, and if necessary take enforcement action. Our priority will always be the safety of people using health and social care services."
Residents are being moved to new facilities by Rochdale council.

During her performance during the second weekend of the California festival last month, the ‘Candy Necklace’ singer surprised fans by bringing out Cabello as a surprise guest. The moment saw them come together to perform a rendition of the latter’s recent single ‘I LUV IT’, and caught some fans off guard as it was widely thought that it would be Taylor Swift who would be joining Del Rey as a guest on the night. Some viewers also questioned why the headliner chose to bring out Cabello, particularly because the track they duetted is unlike anything in Lana Del Rey’s discography and not the obvious choice when it comes to a collaboration. For some devoted fans, a consensus emerged that the appearance at Coachella may have been somewhat of a peace offering, following the ‘Video Games’ singer seemingly calling out the pop star in a past post. The alleged tension between the two arose back in 2020, when Lana Del Rey shared a now-infamous post on Instagram titled ‘Question for the culture’.

TikTok’s Chinese parent company ByteDance has said that it has no intention of selling the business, and would rather see the platform shut down. The news comes after the US passed a law forcing the company to sell the hugely popular social media platform, or see the app banned in America. The sell-or-ban measure was issued into law by US President Joe Biden earlier this week (April 24), following a long-running dispute over claims that the company’s ownership structure could allow the Chinese government to gain access to the data of its millions of American users. To date, over 30 American states, Canada, and the European Union have separately banned the app from use on government-owned devices over concerns it could be a security risk. India banned the app nationwide in January 2021, while Taiwan and Afghanistan did the same in 2022.The bill was first brought up last month, when the US House Foreign Affairs Committee voted 24 to 16 to give President Joe Biden the power to enforce a ban on the social media app over concerns that the app is a national security threat and a Chinese espionage tool. This week’s ruling was voted for with an overwhelming majority of 79 to 18, and was signed by President Joe Biden.
