Taking the stage before the premiere, del Toro spoke of his connection to the story: “I saw the film as a kid and it’s a film that bonded me with my mom for an entire life. It affected me because Pinocchio saw the world the way I saw it. I was a little bit enraged that people demand obedience from Pinocchio so I wanted to make a film about disobedience as a virtue, and to say that you shouldn’t change to be loved.”

The film followed Wisconsin director Mark Borchardt as he attempted to film his fraught horror movie “Coven.” With a crew made up of friends and family members, just about every part of the production process fell apart, except for Schank, who was always there for his friend. An American tourist claims that he was kidnapped and left for dead at the end of his vacation to Mexico last February. After visiting Cancun with his wife, Dustan Jackson said he decided to call a cab to take him to buy chewing tobacco while they waited for their flight back to the U.S. His driver said he knew a store that sold snuff, but the tourist claims he was actually kidnapped.  Jackson said he was ambushed by machete-wielding muggers as soon as he got out of the car.

The RSPCA is investigating after the 'battered' body of an XL American bulldog was found dumped in a child's pushchair. The society said scans showed the dog, which had been left wrapped in a blanket, suffered significant skull and jaw fractures, which they said appeared to have been the result of 'blunt force trauma to the head'.
