A inspirational man suffering from cancer with a "beaming smile" left a farewell message before tragically taking his own life, an inquest has heard. Marc Talbot, from Reddish, had "seemed himself" the day before he ended his life and had not vocalised any of his feeling of hopelessness, according to his family, Manchester Evening News reports.
The "strong" 36-year-old, who had been diagnosed with myeloid leukaemia in 2018, had visited the pub the night before he passed and his family were under the impression that he was sleeping the following day, South Manchester Coroners Court heard yesterday. However, Marc was sadly found dead in his room on April 12, and police later uncovered a text he had sent someone in the early hours of the morning with "notice of intent to take his own life".
Marc, who was originally from Withington, was being cared for by a haematologist at The Christie and had previously successfully secured a match for a stem cell donor. Lynda Talbot, his mum, described the impact the diagnosis had on her son.
She said: "It was a massive shock for him because he was a very fit, young man. He went to the gym every day. But he was determined that nothing was going to bring him down, that he would fight it and recover, he would never give up. He still had a smile on his face and enjoyed a lot of things."
Marc, who had worked in waste management had not spoke of his feelings on the days leading up to his death and had tea with his mum the day before he passed and "seemed himself", the court heard. He went out to the pub in the evening and came back home.
