Russell Crowe reveals how he really feels about new 'Gladiator' movie

A "Gladiator" sequel is in the works without Russell Crowe, and the actor admitted he’s "slightly jealous." In an interview with Collider promoting his new movie, "The Pope’s Exorcist," Crowe said, "Look, the only thing that I really feel about it is slightly jealous, you know? Because I was a much younger man, obviously, and it was a huge experience in my life." He continued, "It's something that changed my life, really. It changed the way people regarded me and what I do for a living, and, you know, I've been very lucky to be involved in lots of big movies, but the legs on that film are incredible." "Gladiator" earned 12 Oscar nominations, and took home a total of five, including best picture, and best actor for Crowe.  "You don't always get that kind of longevity with every film you do, so, it obviously holds a special place in my heart," the 59-year-old said.

Tanya Tucker Announces Her Second Album With Brandi Carlile as Co-Producer, ‘Sweet Western Sound,’ on Heels of Country Hall of Fame News

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Tanya Tucker did not let much time slip away after the Country Music Hall of Fame announced her impending induction this week before coming out with an announcement of her own: She has a second album produced by the team of Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings coming soon, following up on a celebrated previous effort that earned Tucker her first two Grammy Awards. The album “Sweet Western Sound” will be out June 2 on Fantasy. A teaser track from the record, “Kindness” is out now. The song was written by Carlile’s bandmates Phil and Tim Hanseroth. The collection reunites the team that made Tucker’s comeback album, “While I’m Livin’,” a 2019 set that got the singer a Grammys for best country album, and its closing track, “Bring My Flowers Now,” which won best country song.

Russell Crowe responds to request he play Donald Trump in a movie

45th president is being indicted over his alleged involvement in a hush-money scandal — but if his unprecedented legal woes are turned into a biopic it doesn’t look as though Russell Crowe will be playing him. While promoting his new film “The Pope’s Exorcist,” Crowe was asked by Australian Channel Seven Sunrise host Natalie Barr if he would ever consider playing Trump in a film. The typically outspoken Crowe sidestepped a direct response to say he’s “really busy” at the moment.“I’ve got lots, lots, and lots of things to do,” the 58-year-old actor told Barr, looking at the watch on his wrist. The “Gladiator” Oscar winner is not short on roles, starring in four films in 2022, including: “Thor: Love and Thunder,” “Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher,” “The Greatest Beer Run Ever,” and “Poker Face,” which he also directed.Crow is currently in production on a number of films including  “Sleeping Dogs,” and recently finished filming “Kraven the Hunter.”His latest film, “The Pope’s Exorcist,” comes out April 14.Trump was indicted last week by a Manhattan grand jury over an alleged  $130,000 “hush money” payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. The former president surrendered at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Tuesday afternoon. The exact charges against Trump will remain under seal until the hearing.

Joni Mitchell receives Gershwin Prize, exes James Taylor and Graham Nash perform in her honor

Joni Mitchell was honored in Washington D.C., presented with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, and celebrated by her peers and famous fans, including Cyndi Lauper, James Taylor, Marcus Mumford and Brandi Carlile. Walking the red carpet with a cane, the Canadian singer-songwriter said that the honor was "very exciting." After an evening of performances in her honor, Mitchell, 79, took the stage and paid homage to the Gershwin Prize's namesake, George Gershwin, performing "Summertime" from "Porgy and Bess." Performers Graham Nash, Ledisi, Herbie Hancock, as well as Lauper, Taylor, Mumford and Carlile later joined Mitchell on stage to perform her hit song "Circle Game," bringing the crowd to their feet.

Annie Lennox on Paying Homage to Joni Mitchell in PBS ‘Gershwin Prize’ Tribute: ‘She’s in My Blood’

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The vibe surrounding Joni Mitchell being bestowed with the Gershwin Prize in Washington, D.C. earlier this month — as seen in a new PBS special — couldn’t have been more harmonious, from all accounts. And that’s a good thing, because under less loving circumstances, there could have been a turf war over who would get to sing “Both Sides Now,” the song that was Mitchell’s first hit in 1967 and might still stand as her signature song, if someone had to pick one with a gun to their head. The victor, in this quiet, bloodless battle: the inimitable Annie Lennox, who performed at the tribute to Mitchell just months after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Eurythmics.

Marcus Mumford on Performing for Joni Mitchell’s PBS Special — and Why He Thinks She’s Singing Better Than Ever in 2023

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic When an all-star cast of musicians came together to rehearse their salute to Joni Mitchell for a Washington, D.C. tribute concert in February, in honor of her being the latest annual recipient of the Gershwin Prize for songwriting, executive producer Ken Ehrlich had an early epiphany about where Marcus Mumford’s cover of “Carey” should go. “During the rehearsal, it was obvious to me: that was the opening number.” As you watch the remainder of “Joni Mitchell: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song,” though — as it premieres on PBS tonight, and is available thereafter for streaming on PBS.org and the PBS app — you won’t see Mumford disappearing from the stage for very many extended periods. Mumford has been part of the parties at Mitchell’s home the last couple of years, and participated in the “Joni jam” at the Newport Folk Festival last summer, so he is well familiar with her and her catalog at this point. And so, as Ehrlich explains it, “When I reached out to him, it probably wasn’t a half hour before he got back to me and said, ‘Of course I’d love to do this.’ And then he quickly followed with: ‘Can I play with the band?’ And he became the resident percussionist, which I didn’t have.

Martin Scorsese Champions Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s ‘Tori & Lokita,’ Clip Unveiled (EXCLUSIVE)

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent  Sideshow and Janus Films have dropped the clip for Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s “Tori & Lokita” which had a strong opening in New York and Los Angeles on March 24 and is expanding this weekend to additional markets. The latest film by the two-time Palme d’Or winners, “Tori & Lokita” tells the timely story of two immigrants struggling to survive on the margins of society. The humanist drama won the 75th Anniversary Prize at Cannes in 2022. “’Tori Lokita’ is one of the most devastating cinematic experiences I’ve had in a long time,” said Martin Scorsese in a statement sent to Variety. “I’ve always admired the way that Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne make movies—their mastery is inseparable from their spiritual and ethical commitment to their characters, trying to make their way through an unforgiving world,” Scorsese continued. He went on to describe the film as “one of the Dardennes’ most harrowing films,” “also one of their greatest.”

Cameron Diaz comeback movie halted as co-star Jamie Foxx hit with $40K scam: reports
