On Friday morning, the state reported that there have been 74,936 COVID-19 cases here since the outbreak began. Given that the daily count of new cases on Thursday was 1,772, by the time L.A. residents dip their toes in the sand there should be well over 75,000 cases reported in the Golden State.

Former World Wrestling Entertainment pro Shad Gaspard was still missing Tuesday after he was swept out to sea in Southern California last weekend while swimming with his young son.
Former WWE superstar Shad Gaspard has gone missing near Venice Beach, California. The wrestler was visiting the beach with his son and wife Siliana. He was one of the swimmers who were pulled into a rip current at the beach. The 39-year-old was the only one who went under. According to TMZ, as the lifeguards rushed to rescue the wrestler, he requested them to help his son first. While they successfully saved his son, a large wave crashed onto Gaspard.
