This classic Will Smith horror is coming to Netflix UK in October

Netflix have announced their October slate of releases and just in time for Halloween, a classic Will Smith horror will be appearing on the streaming platform.Described by Netflix as “a post apocalyptic horror”, the film earned Smith praise on its release for his leading performance in this dystopian story. It continued: “Starring Will Smith as the last living person in New York City, [he’s] desperate to find a cure for the monsters that hide in the shadows.”The film, 2007’s I Am Legend, arrives on Netflix on October 23.Earlier this year, more details of the I Am Legend sequel emerged including news that it would feature a time-jump, as well as re-writing the first film’s original ending. The film’s producer and writer, Akiva Goldsmith, made the revelation during a conversation with Deadline. He explained that The Last Of Us had been a huge inspiration for his plans when it came to the film.“This will start a few decades later than the first,” Goldsman said.

Blink-182 channel the Ramones in new video for ‘Dance With Me’

Blink-182 have paid homage to the legendary New York rock band the Ramones in the video for their latest single ‘Dance With Me’.The track is a fresh take on a classic Blink song packed with a tapping guitar riff, heavy drums and catchy, anthemic lyrics such as: “Olé, Olé. Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé / Yeah / We’re doing it all night long“.Directed by The Malloys, the song’s accompanying video is billed as a love letter to the famous New York punks – one of Blink’s favourite bands – and sees Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker dressed up in Ramones cosplay.

Tomberlin hit out at venue asking for 41 per cent cut of merch sales

pic.twitter.com/rJeT1g1rjQ— tomberlin (@tomberlin) September 18, 2023She also explained the situation further on Instagram this morning (September 20), providing a longer statement which detailed how they tried to enforce “the most aggressive merch cuts I’ve seen”.“They had the most aggressive merch cuts I’ve seen so far with a forced venue sell (meaning my seller I pay each day could not sell for me and we could not use our own square account),” she wrote. “The cuts: 30% of soft merch (anything that is not music), 10% on recorded merch, a 5% card fee, and a 6% tax (which they retain).“I felt it was an extremely unfair rate and that altogether a merch cut is an archaic rule and truly a made up model by the heads of these venues and [companies] to continue to profit off of the labour of those [whose] labour is already undervalued.“That is why we have to go on tour and become a Walmart and sell you t-shirts.

UK to lose 10 per cent of grassroots venues in 2023, as calls grow for rest of industry to invest

NME that 67 venues have closed so far this year, with 90 currently working with MVT’s Emergency Response. Roughly half of those are likely to close in 2023 – giving a total of around 100 grassroots music being lost from the UK in 2023; that’s 10 per cent of the number of independent gig spaces in the country.Following action being demanded earlier this year from government, the UK’s eight new large arenas and major record labels to “contribute to the security of the wider music ecosystem”, the MVT argue that the huge profits elsewhere are not justified when the “talent pipeline is about to be cut off”.This comes as Enter Shikari announced that they would be donating £1 from every ticket sold to their upcoming UK and Ireland arena tour to benefit the Music Venue Trust.“It sounds like there’s a lot of focus on providing spaces for the real high-end of the music industry,” Reynolds told NME.
