BTS are going on tour – with two huge UK dates

BTS is currently on lockdown, like the rest of the world, self-isolating due to coronavirus scare. April 2020 was going to big for the K-pop band as they were supposed to embark on their Map of the Soul Tour. However, their four scheduled concerts in Seoul were cancelled as a COVID-19 preventive measure. Even their North American and European leg of the tour is in jeopardy as positive cases are rising tremendously, all around the world including the US and the UK.

March 2020 was a special time for BTS member V as he was able to share with the world, one of three songs he recently composed. Titled Sweet Night, the solo track by Taehyung was a part of popular K-drama Itaewon Class OST. In what was of the indie-pop genre along with the right acoustic flavours, V sang about melancholy in the sweetest vocals one could register! Sweet Night instantly became a hit and topped the iTunes Top Songs chart in 77 countries including the US and the UK.

To say that it's been an incredible year to be BTS would be an understatement! Firstly, the release of their album, Map of the Soul: 7 broke records not just in South Korea but all across the globe as well. It peaked at #1 in the Billboard 200 chart while the title song ON reached #4 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Moreover, MOTS: 7 managed to earn the top spots in the UK, Japan and Germany charts as well!

On March 8, Salma Hayek celebrated International Women’s Day with The Caring Foundation, surrounded by powerful females, including Rita Ora, Sabrina Elba and the soon-to-be British Aristocratic Hanna Jaff. The Oscar-nominated actress gathered women at a private members club, Annabel’s The Garden, where she spoke about her commitment to combating violence against women.

To say that BTS is rewriting history in the music scene would be an understatement! The popular K-pop band, which has now become a worldwide phenomenon, is tasting some well-deserved global success thanks to their latest album, Map of the Soul: 7, which dropped in February 2020. In its first week, MOTS: 7 earned the #1 spot in the Billboard 200 chart while simultaneously being #1 in the UK, Germany and Japan charts as well.

Furthermore, the lead single of 7 titled ON found an impressive place in the Billboard Top 100 Songs chart at #4.

Map of the Soul: 7 is storming in the musical charts, not just in South Korea but on a worldwide scale as well. The album topped the charts in the US, the UK, Germany and Japan, which are the four leading music consuming nations.

Everywhere you look in the world of entertainment, you are reminded that the world is becoming increasingly multilingual.As my colleague Keith Caulfield reported on Sunday, BTS' Map of the Soul: 7 this week becomes the 10th album or EP that is performed primarily in a language other than English to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 -- dating back to that chart's inception in 1956.

As BTS celebrates its third career top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (on the chart dated March 7), as "On" rockets in at No. 4, the best placement yet for the Korean pop superstars, the song also earns the distinction as the 20th hit sung primarily in a language other than English to hit the top 10.

The charts don't lie: K-pop group BTS are a phenomenon that are only going to get bigger and bigger.
