A British expat, who moved to Australia for work, has been slammed online after she shared a video moaning about her free accommodation. Faye Johnson and her partner, Luke moved to a remote town in Western Australia as part of the requirements of her working holiday visa to allow them to stay in the country for another year, the Mirror reports.
She began working at a hotel and was given a free place to stay during her time as a staff member. But Faye was less than impressed, and took to TikTok to share footage of her living space looks like, captioning the clip, "I've actually stayed in a nicer prison!".
She also compared the fridge to something you'd find in a "crack den" - but has been hit with backlash for her ungrateful attitude. A number of other social media users reminded her she was living there for free and the country is currently battling a housing crisis.
In the clip, Faye explained: "I quit my job in the UK and moved over here doing the working holiday visa. We got job offers in a hotel in a remote part of Western Australia, and the hotel said, 'we can offer you free accommodation'.
"We thought that would be perfect because we can save up and do some travelling afterwards. Let me just show you something from our free accommodation."
She continues on to show the fridge which seems to be rusting. She said: "Just soak that in. This is not a drill. This is genuinely our fridge. Don't know if they found it from a crack den or on the side of the road."
The video then pans round the room where an oven and stove which she claims doesn't work can be seen along with an sofa and ancient TV. However, it is not just the furnishing Faye is unhappy with as she says the roof which is full of "cobwebs" and "Christ knows what" is
