EXCLUSIVE: Briarcliff Entertainment CEO Tom Ortenberg has completed an acquisition of U.S. distribution rights to the slave rebellion action-thriller Emperor. Briarcliffe has dated the film for a March 27 theatrical release. The film is written and directed by Mark Amin, and stars Dayo Okeniyi, Kat Graham, Bruce Dern, James Cromwell and Mykelti Williamson.
The film is based on a true story, and Okeniyi plays Shields Green, an escaped slave

Mark Wahlberg seeks justice against the men that framed him and sent him to prison in the trailer for Netflix's Spenser Confidential, which debuted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday (Jan. 20).The film follows ex-cop Spenser (Wahlberg), who, after being let out of prison, gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with promising amateur Hawk (Winston Duke).
