São Paolo singer-songwriter Sergio Sayeg (Sessa) has shared “Pele da Esfera,” the third offering from his sophomore LP, Estrela Acesa (Burning Star), due out June 24 via Mexican Summer. The new track arrives in the wake of lead single “Gostar do Mundo” and its follow up, “Canção da Cura,” which made The FADER’s “10 songs you need in your life this week” roundup last month.
Whereas that song was a mesmeric, healing elixir for fresh emotional wounds, the new track is somewhat less immersive. Sayeg leaves his nylong guitar chords some room to breathe here, and his breathy vocals are delivered with a more measured intensity, evoking a subtle twinkling of the eye.

Late on the first day in the studio, [producer and session bassist Marcelo] Cabral, who I didn’t know personally before then, had a bit of a worried frown. He said that his dog that was just a few months old was home alone and that maybe we just lay down a draft and pick it back up tomorrow.
