Brandon Flowers has opened up about how Alice Deejay’s 1999 dance track ‘Better Off Alone’ inspired The Killers’ hit ‘Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine’.On a new video posted to social media, The Killers frontman spoke about the inspiration behind the track, which opened the band’s debut album, ‘Hot Fuss.‘ Flowers was talking about the track he said, in the “countdown to the release of ‘Rebel Diamonds'” – a compilation album The Killers are releasing next month that is comprised of songs from across their 20 year career.The forthcoming album will include classics such as ‘Mr Brightside‘, ‘When You Were Young’ and ‘Human’ to more recent standalone hits such as ‘Boy‘ and ‘Your Side Of Town‘. And that was a lot of money for me. And it was a very big purchase and I figured I better learn how to use this thing and apply it to this band that I was in.“…Everybody was so capable of their instruments and everybody had their parts and it came down to the end of the song and I felt like I wanted to have something that was really identifiable that I could play.
