A 12-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was hit by a car in Sheffield.
Police discovered a seriously injured woman in her 60s in the Greenhill area of the city at around 7.10pm on Wednesday evening, South Yorkshire Police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene. The 12-year-old was found by officers shortly afterwards and arrested on suspicion of murder as well as suspected possession of a knife.

Police remain at the scene around Hemper Lane, where the incident is understood to have taken place.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "Officers attended alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, to find a woman in her 60s suffering serious injuries. She sadly died at the scene.
"A 12-year-old boy was located a short time later and arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article. He remains in police custody.”
Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell from the force added: “This will be a deeply distressing time for the families of those involved in this incident, and I would ask their privacy is respected as they seek to understand what has happened.”
One local resident told Yorkshire Live that the area was "normally really quiet". She added: "It’s just a nice quiet place to live so this has come as a shock to be honest."
Witnesses or anyone with information should contact police via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
