Boxing fans stormed the ring when an international event was cancelled after a police swoop following reports a fan had a gun.
The MTK Lonsdale Box Cup saw amateur boxers from across Europe flock to Glasgow’s Emirates Arena for the weekend event.
But the tournament was scrapped over claims that a gun was found in the arena on Saturday – with fans saying the event was already a “shambles” before the police were called.
When it was announced the event was being axed, angry spectators stormed the ring.
MTK organiser Steve Sharkey said in a statement: “Police attended the arena with reports of a firearm within the building at 1.04pm with police within the building confirming this.
“We collectively agreed to evacuate the building having announced the closure of the tournament.
“We can’t apologise enough. We have never experienced anything like this and needed to take professional guidance with the alarming situation.”
Video footage shows the event MC taking to the stage to break the news of the cancellation, leading to angry responses from the crowd.
Footage show people running around picking up medals and trophies. Contestants, fans and clubs were unhappy at the sudden announcement – which many claimed came after a chaotic and badly organised few days.
It was claimed that some clubs had forked out up to £16,000 pounds on flights and accommodation to be represented at the event.
Hundreds of fans also paid £65 a ticket to attend while pay-per-view TV access also cost £24.99 for the three days.
Aberdeen boxing fan Leone Lawson wrote on her Facebook page: “MTK Lonsdale Box Cup you are a disgrace. Folk kicking off, people running over to grab what they can, all medals/belts etc stolen. Ring turned upside down.

Ever since first entering the villa, the hunky singleton has been spotted sporting a wide variety of eye wear, sometimes even more than one pair at a time. Regularly slipping his sunglasses on over his regular glasses when he needs a little more clarity to look at something - the bizarre look has left fans at home begging the producers to intervene and find him a pair of prescription sunglasses instead.
