Bong Joon Ho Reveals the Significance of 'Parasite's' Scholar Stone

The film world has been sending itself into a frenzy for Bong Joon-ho‘s latest movie, Parasite. This love has seen it become an awards season darling, with nominations and wins across the board. Having watched the film, I can confirm it is indeed just as good, if not better than everyone is saying. The tricky thing though is that in order to get the absolute best experience, you should go in knowing as little about it as possible. This makes writing the following review exceptionally difficult.

At the 15th annual Final Draft Awards on Tuesday, Lulu Wang was presented with the New Voice Award for Film by Parasite director Bong Joon Ho, where she flipped the script and revealed how much his work has influenced her own projects.After Bong, through his translator, called her film The Farewell "one of themost beautiful and delicate films of last year, and I'm not just saying as an Asian filmmaker — I'm saying this as a fellow director," Wang accepted her award on stage at the Paramount

It's been a banner week for Parasite filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, who set a limited series adaptation of his film with HBO and Adam McKay and then landed six nominations for his breakout Korean-language thriller.How did it feel to earn six nominations?It's very gratifying, especially to be acknowledged for the craft of the film. We all thought that Song Kang-ho would be nominated for best supporting actor, so that was a little disappointing.

Parasite created history at the SAG Awards. The South Korean black comedy won the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the prestigious awards show, which is the SAG equivalent of the best picture at the Oscars.

At the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night (Jan. 19), the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a motion picture went to Parasite, a South Korean black comedy thriller directed by Bong Joon-ho.

BTS released their new single titled Black Swan earlier this weekend. The new song was unlike any of BTS' previous songs. The new song has the South Korean boys come together to record a song revolving around a performer's life. The video, on the other hand, saw none of the BTS members perform. Instead, it saw performers from MN Dance Company come together and present an art film performed on the tunes of the K-Pop band's new Map of the Soul: 7 tunes. 

Bong Joon-ho is on cloud nine as his extraordinary feature film Parasite has earned South Korea its first-ever nominations at Oscars 2020. Besides Best Picture and Best Director noms for Bong, Parasite is also nominated for Best International Feature Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Production Design.

South Korean film-maker Bong Joon-ho has been announced as the first guest editor of Sight & Sound magazine.

When the nominations for the 92nd Annual Academy Awards were announced on Monday, Bong Joon-ho's  made history by becoming the first South Korean film nominated for Best International Film. In total, the movie was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Production Design.

The Oscars 2020 nominations list is finally out and while there were several surprises and even more snubs (female directors get no Oscar love!), Parasite emerged as a big winner! This Bong Joon-ho directorial was led by veteran South Korean actor Song Kang-ho and has been winning acclaim and accolades on a global scale.

“Parasite” made history on Monday, becoming the first South Korean movie to be nominated for best picture and best international film.

Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood has been named best picture at the Critics’ Choice Awards on a night which also saw a shared win for directors Sam Mendes and Bong Joon-ho.

In an unexpected twist, two filmmakers won the Best Director prize at the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards.  director Bong Joon-Ho and Sam Mendes, who helmed, won in a tie.
