Blur have announced four intimate warm up shows next month ahead of their Wembley Stadium performance in July. The run will see the band play a hometown show in Colchester and officially re-open The Halls in Wolverhampton.Announced in November last year, the Wembley Stadium show will be Blur’s only large-scale performance in the UK this year.
That and the newly announced gigs are also their first headline performances since 2015.Commenting last year, guitarist Graham Coxon said: “I’m really looking forward to playing with my Blur brothers again and revisiting all those great songs. Blur live shows are always amazing for me.
A nice guitar and an amp turned right up and loads of smiling faces”.Bassist Alex James added: “There’s always something really special when the four of us get in a room. It’s nice to think that on 8 Jul that room will be Wembley Stadium”.Yes, that’s right, the Wembley show will be on 8 Jul.

The shows, mostly with singer-songwriter Ben Kweller in support, will take place in between dates on his massive stadium tour — titled “+ – = ÷ x Tour” (pronounced “Mathematics Tour”) — which was announced last fall. Sheeran is using Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan technology for the theater dates. Registration opens on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. ET and closes on Sunday, April 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The Verified Fan onsale is set to begin on Tuesday, May 2 at 10 a.m. local venue time.
