attended the Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles with her parents Beyoncé and Jay-Z on Saturday where, much to the surprise of everyone, she joined in on the auction portion of the evening. In a clip shared on , Blue bids $80,000 on a pair of Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, much to the shock of her grandmother Tina Knowles-Lawson and who were emceeing the evening and stared back at the child open-mouthed from where they were leading the auction on stage. However, this isn't the first time Blue has found herself embroiled in a bidding war at that specific auction.
Back in 2019, when she was just six years old, she placed a $19,000 bid on an acrylic painting of a young Sidney Poitier. But Tyler Perry was also interested in purchasing the same piece so, unbeknownst to both of them, they began battling each other over the artwork.
After ultimately winning it for himself, the famed director explained to , “Somebody else was bidding against me, I didn't know who it was.” He continued, “I look over and it's her. She's taking the paddle out of Jay's hand and Beyoncé's hand and she's bidding.” But Perry didn't let the fact that he was competing with a first grader deter him, he said, “This kid's not outbidding me today.
You gonna learn today, little girl, I'm getting this painting.”And even though she ultimately didn't wind up getting the artwork of Poitier, Blue Ivy didn't leave the auction empty-handed that night. She then went on to place a bid on the next item, a 36-by-36-inch piece of art by Samuel Levi Jones made out of deconstructed Indiana law books and Californian medical texts.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Opening statements began on Wednesday in a civil trial against Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis, who has been accused of raping a publicist nearly a decade ago. Haleigh Breest, who filed a lawsuit against Haggis in 2017, alleges that the screenwriter and director forced her to perform oral sex and then raped her after she reluctantly agreed to have a drink at his Soho apartment following a movie premiere. Her attorneys asserted to jurors that the director used his fame and position in Hollywood to pressure Breest, who was 26 at the time. “The defendant, Paul Haggis, is a famous movie director and screenwriter. He’s won two Oscars. He’s talented. He’s powerful. He’s also manipulative,” the plaintiff’s lawyer Zoe Salzman told the jurors in a Lower Manhattan courtroom. “The evidence in this case will show Mr. Haggis used his storytelling skills and fame to prey on, manipulate and attack vulnerable young women in the film industry.”
