A blaze has broken out at a flat in Edinburgh, sparking an emergency response from firefighters who sped to the tower block.
The fire took hold at the Forteviot House tower block in Moredunvale Bank shortly before 12pm today, after plumes of smoke were spotted billowing from the windows.
Emergency crews, including Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland, sped to the incident, which unfolded on the second floor of the building, according to EdinburghLive.
Residents reported seeing two fire engines on site, with firefighters working hard to extinguish the blaze and make the area safe for those round about.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, however one local said the flat is currently empty, with residents believed to have been vacated.
Photos taken at the scene, which were shared on social media, show severe smoke damage stretching outside the windows of the second floor property, as well as ladders stretching up to the flat from a nearby fire engine.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.50am on Monday, 24 October to reports of a dwelling fire on Moredunvale Bank, Edinburgh.
“Operations Control mobilised four appliances and a height vehicle to the scene, where crews worked to extinguish the fire on the second floor of a fifteen-storey block of flats.
“There were no casualties and we remain on scene to investigate the cause further.”
