EXCLUSIVE: Black Beauty Roster and Warner Bros. Discovery have today announced their partnership on a new, one-of-a-kind program that will afford hairstylists and makeup artists from historically marginalized communities the chance to position themselves for a department head position in entertainment.
The 12 selected from the U.S. and Canada are Denise Baker (hair/LA), Gabby Navarrete (makeup/LA), Charles Zambrano (makeup/NYC), Allison LaCour (makeup/NOLA), Tiffany Daugherty (hair/LA), Kauilani Goodwyn (hair/LA), Amber Hamilton (hair/LA), Se’Anne Simon (makeup/NOLA), Khalieha Cunningham (hair/Canada), Krista Haan (makeup/Canada), Amber Crombach (makeup/Canada) and Marecel Callagan (makeup/Canada).
The new educational program from BBR and WBD, which kicks off this month, will gather the selected beauty professionals virtually for four months, seeing the artists undergo extensive training from Black Beauty Roster, to ensure they are ready to fill the department head role upon its completion. They’ll have leading MUAH department heads from across the industry as guest speakers and instructors and will also hear from top producers who will speak to what they look for when hiring, providing guidance on resume and portfolio building, networking, understanding key language, team building, negotiating contracts, budgeting, crisis management and more.

A New York judge has issued a speedy injunction ordering Drake and 21 Savage to stop distributing the fake Vogue cover they created as part of a promotional campaign for their new collaborative album ‘Her Loss’.The fake Vogue cover is a key part of a spoof heavy album marketing campaign, it basically implying that the Condé Nast fashion magazine is editorially supporting the launch of the record, which it is not. As well as posting the fake cover to social media, posters of it have been put up in cities around the US, and in some places actual copies of Vogue, but with the fake cover added, have been handed out.Condé Nast started issuing cease and desist notices against Drake and 21 Savage – and the communications agency leading on the campaign, Hiltzik Strategies – as soon as it became aware of the fake cover.
