No rights in music, name/likeness or life story will be granted,” a rep for the 72-year-old confirmed to The Post.According to Variety, producers noted that music necessities for the flick are “yet to be determined.”Jaigantic Studios was able to work around Joel by acquiring the life rights to Mazur.

His breakthrough hit ‘Piano Man’, from the album of the same name, was released in 1973.Artie Ripp, director Adam Ripp’s father, signed Joel to his first solo record deal and produced his debut album ‘Cold Spring Harbor’.Speaking about the film, Ripp said: “Billy Joel has been a part of my life since my father signed him to his record label when I was four years old; his music is ingrained in my DNA and it’s been a dream of mine as a filmmaker to explore and celebrate the untold story of how Billy Joel became the Piano Man.”Mazur said: “What a dream come true! Naman Ramachandran PBS documentary anthology series “Independent Lens” has acquired the documentary feature “Outta The Muck” from directors Ira Mckinley and Bhawin Suchak, who previously co-directed award-winning documentary “The Throwaways.” Based on Mckinley’s family roots, the film, a narrative of Black achievement, tells the story of a fiercely self-determined family in the deep south as it resists despair with love. It blends family, football and history in an intimate portrait of the Dean family, longtime residents of the historic town of Pahokee, Florida and journeys back home with McKinley as he reconnects with his niece Bridget and nephew Alvin and explores their shared family history that spans seven generations.
