With the return of homecoming heroes and visits from some of the world's biggest names in music, the live music scene in Manchester is shaping up for one of its biggest and best years ever in 2024.
A flurry of big gig announcements have already been made for the year ahead, including Liam Gallagher's huge live return in celebration of Oasis's debut album Definitely Maybe, the Foo Fighters at Emirates Old Trafford, and New Order playing Wythenshawe Park. As Liam himself would say, it's all looking fairly biblical.
Meanwhile Take That will hold court for an epic run of homecoming gigs in the summer too. We will also witness the return of comeback queens Girls Aloud, as well as see the Strictly Come Dancing sparkle liberally glittered over the city with the class of 2023 in town for its annual live show.

2024 is also a massive year for Manchester with the launch of the biggest new live music and events venue in Europe. Co-Op Live, next to Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, will be opening at the end of April, and has booked some of the biggest music stars in the world to play its opening season including Olivia Rodrigo, Barry Manilow, the Jonas Brothers and the Killers.
Here we take a look month-by-month at some of the biggest gigs and live events set to draw thousands of revellers to Manchester over the next year.
We blast off January with British rockers Bring Me the Horizon in town at the AO Arena on January 13. Things get a little more razzle dazzle at the venue on January 22 with the return of the Lottery's Big Night of Musicals, hosted by Beverley Knight, which will also be filmed and aired on ITV at a later date.
