according to The Hollywood Reporter.Amazon Studios and Skydance Sports are reportedly in the midst of finalizing the deal for the flick alongside the two Oscar winners.The “Ford v Ferrari” star will play Vaccaro and Affleck will portray Nike co-founder Phil Knight.The story will revolve around the sports sneaker company and Vaccaro attempting to sign basketball player Michael Jordan in the mid-eighties for an endorsement deal. The partnership seemed impossible at the time, however, the deal became one of the most significant in sports history.

Affleck is set to direct, write, co-star and produce while Damon will star, write and produce an untitled film about former Nike executive Sonny Vaccarro's life story, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The two will be joined by production company Mandalay Pictures.

It will center on the sports marketing executive who relentlessly pursued basketball legend Michael Jordan in the mid-’80s. Affleck will direct, star and co-write.

Affleck, who will also direct the film, will play Nike co-founder Phil Knight while Damon will play the shoe company’s marketing chief Sonny Vacarro, who oversaw the deal with Jordan. Introduced in 1984 during Jordan’s rookie season with the Chicago Bulls, Nike’s Air Jordan sneakers became arguably the most iconic sneaker brand ever made and paved the way for the contemporary sneaker industry with athlete endorsements.
