Scotland’s biggest prison is “no longer fit for purpose” for the number of inmates it houses.
Inspectors have said BarlinniePrison in Glasgow has an “outdated and antiquated building design” and medical rooms are in a “severe state of disrepair”.
The inspection found that that holding cells in the reception area, which were "first condemned 25 years ago", remain in use - with concerns that they breach the human rights of prisoners.
