Asda has become the latest major supermarket chain to ration the amount of eggs that shoppers can buy following the national shortages.
The Mirror reports that Asda has been limiting its customers to just two boxes of eggs per person when they are at the supermarket.
It comes just after budget grocery chain Lidl introduced a limit of three boxes per customer on the popular product and put up notices in-stores explaining the ration.
According to The Sun, Asda has confirmed that the egg limit will be in place for a few weeks across all 630 stores across the UK.
Many major supermarkets and retailers have been introducing the new limits after they were hit with a shortage mainly due to the current Avian flu outbreak, reports HullLive.
Other factors that have been explained for the shortage have been rising prices for farmers and the summer heatwave which led to millions of birds dying.
Shoppers who have been spotting the ration notices in stores have been sharing them to social media to alert other customers.
Lidl shopper, Grocery Insight CEO Steve Dresser shared a snap in his local supermarket that read: "Eggs are limited to three units per customer to ensure that everyone has the essentials they need."
Tesco customers have also shared noticed that read: "Due to the hot summer we are currently experiencing low availability across our egg range. Sorry for any inconvenience."
And a notice in Sainsbury's said: "We are currently experiencing supply issues across our fresh egg range. We are working hard to resolve these and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
It's not just supermarkets that have been affected, as UK pub chain Wetherspoons also issued a warning to its diners that it has had to offer alternatives on its breakfast
