SANTA FE, N.M. -- George R.R. Martin, the famed author of the “Game of Thrones” fantasy series, has joined a group to buy the historic Santa Fe Southern Railroad.

Def Jam is going international. A little more than a half a year after launching Def Jam South East Asia, Universal Music Group announced Def Jam Africa, a new division based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Lagos, Nigeria, that will focus on "hip-hop, Afrobeats and trap talent in Africa" and report to Universal Music Sub-Saharan Africa & South Africa managing director Sipho Dlamini.

Today, Universal Music Group announced that it is launching Def Jam Africa, a new label division that operates within the continent to represent the best hip-hop, Afrobeats and trap talent in Africa. To start, the label will be based in Johannesburg and Lagos; the entirety of its starting roster comes from either South Africa and Nigeria.

Netflix’s second African original series ‘Blood & Water’ is making waves on the streaming service worldwide and as fans continue to praise the series’ story and cinematography, Nasty C has ensured the soundtrack is top-notch as he teams up with Rowlene yet again for a new track titled ‘I Need You’.

Sony Pictures Television has sold itsAlex Rider series – an adaptation of Anthony Horowitz's young adult spy novels, produced by Sony-owned Eleventh Hour Films – to nearly 100 territories around the world. Among the sales are Starzplay, which has picked up the show for multiple territories across the Middle East and North Africa, the Nordic Entertainment Groups, which acquired it for its Scandinavian streaming service Viaplay, and Showmax for sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa.

We already knew Netflix was the go-to spot for the best teen shows to stream, and its library just got a little bit juicier with the addition of Blood & Water.

In what promises to be another coup for Netflix Africa showcasing exceptional local talent, Blood & Water has hit screens worldwide and is now streaming.
