An armed gang of yobs thought to be terrorising a town were caught on camera trying to steal a motorbike outside a supermarket - before lunging at shoppers and staff who attempted to intervene. The drama unfolded at the Sainsbury's store in Hazel Grove, Stockport, on Saturday afternoon (September 2).
Three men arrived on bikes. A video circulating on social media shows them brazenly using bolt cutters to cut free a blue motorbike secured to a bike rack.
A bike is then driven towards a group of bystanders. Some were filming what was happening. As a member of the public holding a shopping trolley and a member of staff approach, one of the culprits swings at them with a metal bike chain.
Another clutching a hammer runs towards them and whacks the trolley.

The two men then run towards the group a second time before the group eventually flees, without the motorbikes, on two bikes Greater Manchester Police say are believed to have been previously stolen.
Police believe they're involved in 'series of incidents across Stockport.' An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "Officers in Stockport have arrested a teenager after reports of a disturbance in Stockport at the weekend.
