Apple is shutting down its nearly 500 retail stores worldwide outside of China until March 27 in an effort to minimize the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The move was announced late Friday in a statement by CEO Tim Cook. In the Greater China region, where the COVID-19 outbreak first erupted, Apple had shut down its retail stores starting in early February, and had reopened all 42 of them by Friday, March 13.

More than 200 cinemas in Shanghai will re-open Saturday after nearly two months of enforced shutdown to stop the spread of coronavirus, Chinese authorities said Thursday.

China’s main state-owned distributor plans to issue a batch of half a dozen films, from which cinemas will keep all income, in order to get the country’s exhibition sector back on its feet after long closures due to coronavirus, it has said.
Research by Chinese ticketing agency Maoyan appears to show that Chinese people have not lost their taste for feature films during the recent coronavirus-enforced closure of cinemas.

An employee at Apple's Culver City campus in southern California has tested positive for coronavirus, multiple sources tell Billboard. Some Apple employees at the campus were alerted via email on Saturday, but the office remains open.
