Five years on, the boys are dreaming bigger than ever. “Some of us really want to join Marvel,” Mirror member Edan Lui tells Variety in an interview. The statement may come across as a joke. But no, it is not, as fellow member Anson Lo, Lui’s co-star in the 2021 hit ViuTV BL drama “Ossan’s Love Hong Kong,” echoes: “We want to get on some talk shows in the U.S. as well, or any Hollywood movies, TV, live performances. Yes, please invite us.” The band’s Hollywood wishlist did not emerge just out of the blue. It came after the recording of their English debut single “Rumours,” a catchy EDM-influenced tune that has just been released worldwide Friday (March 17), along with a storied music video that follows the 12 members — Frankie Chan, Alton Wong, Lokman Yeung, Stanley Yau, Anson Kong, Jer Lau, Ian Chan, Jeremy Lee, Keung To, Tiger Yau, Lui and Lo — on a secret mission after a mysterious girl, jammed with dance sequences set in the Hong Kong streetscape.

Marcus Mumford, Anna Calvi and Hozier are among the artists set to play a fundraising event for Turkey and Syria in London next month.On Saturday, April 15, the famous Royal Albert Hall will host the event, which will raise funds for War Child and the Turkey Mozaik Foundation in response to the deadly recent earthquake.The night will also feature guest appearances by Olivia Colman, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Omid Djalili, as well as the Turkish and Syrian Solidarity Ensemble.Olivia Colman said of her involvement: ‘Why would I NOT take part? 120 Minutes, KROQ radio DJ, and A&R senior at Island Def Jam Records, has died at the age of 58.Largent died on February 20 after a long illness, his family confirmed to Variety this week.He fronted MTV’s alternative music show 120 Minutes in the early to mid-’90s after joining the brand as Vice President of Music Programming, interviewing acts including David Bowie, Trent Reznor, Radiohead, Björk and Smashing Pumpkins.The southern California-raised tastemaker began his music industry with an internship at Los Angeles’ famed alternative rock radio station, KROQ. He began working for the station full time in 1985 and was promoted to a music director position in 1989.Largent stepped down from presenting 120 Minutes for MTV in 1995 but continued to serve as a programmer for MTV until 1999 before joining Island Def Jam Records as Senior Vice President of A&R.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Lewis Largent, who was known to millions in the 1980s and ‘90s as an influential alternative-music MTV VJ and DJ on KROQ, died on Feb. 20 after a long illness, his family confirms to Variety. He was 58. A native of Southern California, Largent was an enthusiastic golfer as a teen, and he met the general manager of the Los Angeles alternative-radio powerhouse KROQ while working at a country club. Impressed with Largent’s knowledge of music, the GM offered him an internship at the station that led to a full-time role in 1985. He rose quickly through the ranks and was named music director in 1989. In 1992, Largent left the station to take a VP of music programming post at MTV, where he soon began hosting “120 Minutes.” That show, a 1990s Sunday-night tradition on the channel, expanded the genre’s reach nationwide — and Largent’s. (This writer can recall a certain major label president striving to impress executives in a meeting with his ability to get Largent to take his call.) David Bowie, Bjork, Trent Reznor, Radiohead and PJ Harvey were among the many artists he hosted on “120 Minutes.”

Eno, 74, who describes himself as a ‘non-musician’ is best known for his contributions to ambient music and work in rock, pop and electronica and has been on the cutting edge of technology and artistic innovation for the past 50 years.

Blake Mills, producer of the show's soundtrack, has also previously worked with Dylan. Author Taylor Jenkins Reid wrote many of 's lyrics for the book, but the show will now bring the fictional music to life. Camila Morrone, who plays Camila, wife of band leader Billy, added that the cast tried to stay focused on their own work despite being utterly starstruck. «When Bob Dylan's making music you just let him do his thing,» she said with a chuckle.«We tried to stay out of his way,» Waterhouse agreed.Though the Bob Dylan sighting may have been more a moment in passing, the cast certainly had their fair share of epic artistic run-ins while in production. Mills recruited a group of music legends to adapt Reid's and the finished project boasts co-writing credits from Marcus Mumford, Phoebe Bridgers and Jackson Browne.Tony Berg, a frequent collaborator of Bridgers, also provided additional support and the album features instrumental work from David Bowie, Elton John, Pearl Jam, Jeff Beck, Rilo Kiley, The Who, Nine Inch Nails and The Wallflowers. Riley Keough, granddaughter of Elvis Presley, plays Daisy Jones.

The Southbank Centre in London has announced a celebration of the 50th anniversary of David Bowie’s ‘Aladdin Sane’ album, with talks, performances and a two month exhibition exploring the record’s iconic artwork.“We’re honoured to pay tribute to David Bowie, who made his Southbank Centre debut in 1969”, says the venue’s Artistic Director Mark Ball. “The ‘Aladdin Sane’ album cover portrait is considered to be one of the most influential pop culture images of the past half century, and the music remains fresh and contemporary, so we wanted to recognise this major anniversary and reflect on the album and its artwork’s enduring legacy”.“It’s a work that continues to inspire today’s contemporary artists and the gender fluidity of the images still resonate deeply in queer culture in the UK and across the world”, he adds.The artwork exhibition will run from 6 Apr to 28 May, and has been curated by Chris Duffy, son of the photographer who took the distinctive lightning flash portrait, Brian Duffy.
