The heartbreaking reality facing the homeless in Scotland has been outlined by these harrowing pictures showing a man sleeping in a doorway during heavy snow.
The shocking images show the young man lying in a sleeping bag in the city centre of Glasgow amid freezing conditions and blizzards on Thursday morning.
The pictures were posted on the Facebook group 'Help the Homeless' by Anton Reilly.
The community group is made up of volunteers who give up their free time to help those sleeping rough in the city.
Anton says the homeless man was forced to sleep on the streets while he waits for temporary accommodation as he 'didn't feel safe' in hostels.
In a post to the Facebook page, Anton said: "Quick jaunt into town this morning to check and assist some of our friends during this crazy weather.
"Everyone I came across this morning received a warm drink and some essentials including gloves hats and sleeping bags to make them that little more comfortable. Also a wee Greggs gift card was given ensuring they have a hot breakfast.
"Came across one very young man that says he's waiting for temporary accommodation in supported accommodation but in the meantime he feels he's safer on the streets rather in one of the hostels.
"I gave him a tent for now to try and protect him from the elements and will try and link in with him later to see if we can assist further."
Another picture posted by Anton showed the harrowing reality of the conditions, with a city centre street shown to be completely blanketed in snow.
Locals reacted to the post in the comments with many angry that anyone is sleeping rough in such conditions.
