Tennis legend Andy Murray admitted that his first venture into the world of coaching ended in “disgrace” after his own daughter refused to work with him. Andy, who earlier this month enjoyed a holiday to Marbella, Spain, with his family, is one of the biggest British names in the tennis world, accumulating countless history-making moments and securing the top men's spot back in 2016.
Now the two-time Wimbledon champion is looking to pass on the proverbial baton to his daughter Edie, who he shares with his wife Kim Murray alongside their other kids, Sophia, Teddy and their unnamed youngest. The 35 year old athlete took to social media on Sunday, where he treated his 1.9 million followers to a rare look at his family life. On his story, Andy shared a picture of a handwritten note that his daughter had written for him following their first training session together.
Captioning the post, he wrote: “My first venture into the coaching world has ended in disgrace. 5 year old daughter has quit telling me, ‘I don’t want to play anymore… you stand too close to me.” On the actual note itself, Edie wrote: “Dear Daddy, I am not going to play tennis for a while.
Lots of love, Edie.” She decorated the letter with a resounding red cross in case her dad missed the point, and she even drew a little tennis man alongside hearts and kisses. Ironically, Andy previously spoke about Sophia’s interest in the support, as he told This Morning's Alison Hammond: “My eldest daughter plays [tennis] once a week.
