The And Just Like That creator has said that Samantha Jones will return for the second series. Sex and the City fans thoroughly missed the presence of Kim Cattrall playing the iconic character in the reboot, which was met with mixed reviews. While Samantha wasn't there as the ladies reunited on screen, her presence was felt as Sarah Jessica Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw, frequently texted her pal.
The finale hinted at a possible return too, as Carrie messaged her old friend about meeting for lunch. And showrunner Michael Patrick King has now claimed Samantha will be back, giving Vanity Fair a definite “yes!” when asked about the fan favourite returning. "My goal is to bring all the characters into the mix together, so that they're not so much on separate runways." One thing Michael didn't address is whether Kim will be back in the iconic role, or if the character could br recast. HBO renewed And Just Like That for a second season in March, after the successful return of Sarah Jessica, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis as their respective characters, Carrie, Miranda Hobbs and Charlotte York Goldenblatt. At the time, Michael was delighted that the story would continue for a second series.
He said in a statement: "I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters - played by these powerful, amazing actors. "The fact is, we're all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back," he added at the time.
