A Southern Califonia police officer was wounded Tuesday afternoon while attempting to arrest a homicide suspect, who later died in an exchange of gunfire, authorities said. The female officer, who was not identified, was expected to recover, San Bernardino police Chief Eric McBride told the San Bernardino Sun.

The adoptive father of two young California boys who went missing last week said they were playing on a back porch when he went to gather firewood just before their disappearance.  Trezol West and his wife, Jacqueline West, reported 3-year-old Orson and 4-year-old Orrin West missing on Dec. 21 from their California City home.Trezol West told KGET-TV that the boys were playing around 5 p.m.

Southern California authorities continued to investigate Wednesday after a man allegedly shot a woman to death inside Kohl’s department store in Los Angeles County Tuesday evening, just days before Christmas, during an alleged domestic incident and fled the scene.

Three men were arrested last week in connection with a drive-by shooting at a California strip on Halloween that injured three people after they were kicked out over their refusal to wear masks, prosecutors said Monday.  Edgar Nava-Ayala, 34, Juan Jose Acosta-Soto, 20, and Daniel Juvenal Ocampo, 22, all of Anaheim, were taken into police custody on Dec. 17 over the Oct.

Authorities in the San Francisco Bay Area were investigating a possible shooting Saturday evening at a shopping mall outside San Jose.
