AMC Networks said Friday it’s withdrawing first quarter and full year financial guidance provided earlier this year and not offering an updated fiscal outlook given the uncertainties surrouding the coronavirus pandemic.
There’s been an accelerating drumbeat of corporate announcements this week – from ViacomCBS to Walt Disney, Comcast, Sony, Discovery, Twitter and Facebook – publicly acknowledging the unusual and unusually harsh financial situation they may be facing.

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – The week of March 9 — when the coronavirus was officially declared a pandemic, and Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson shared the news that they had tested positive for COVID-19 — a cascade of television shows and movies shut their productions down for safety reasons. From “Stranger Things” to “The Batman,” these shutterings are temporary, and sets will be up and running as soon as it’s safe to go back into production — though no one knows when that might be.
AMC Networks is the latest entertainment company to withdraw its earnings guidance due to the coronavirus pandemic. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, the company outlined the challenges it has faced related to the pandemic.

ViacomCBS on Friday became the latest media giant to warn investors about the grave threat to its business operations posed by the fallout from the global response to the coronavirus pandemic.
AMC Theatres, the nation’s biggest cinema chain, furloughed its employees after the coronavirus outbreak forced movie theaters across the country to close. The action extends to every corporate AMC staff member, including chief executive officer Adam Aron.
