Love Island champion Amber Gill has hit out at fans comparing her to her former cast mate Molly-Mae Hague. Appearing on The Murad Merali Podcast, Amber, 24, called the comparisons “horrendous” and said “it’s very draining”.The Love Island star, who boasts 2.6 million followers on Instagram, complained it all stems from Molly-Mae having more followers, with a whopping 6.3 million. Amber said: “It’s this whole thing of Instagram is life.” Comparisons between the two began in 2019, when, just four weeks after leaving the villa, Molly-Mae, 22, signed a £500,000 deal with PrettyLittleThing.
With Love Island winner Amber seemingly quiet, comments began to circle that Molly-Mae was the "true winner" of the show. “It’s horrendous because I sit and second-guess myself, 'Am I doing good? And I am!'" Just six weeks after leaving the show, Amber secured the biggest post-Love Island deal ever by signing a contract for £1 million to become a brand ambassador for Miss Pap. Despite their differences, the Love Island star was quick to praise Molly-Mae on the podcast. “I really like Molly,” she said.
“People think I’m so jealous of her, and I’m totally not. Me and her are on completely different wavelengths.” “I respect what [Molly-Mae] does and I think she’s very good [at it], but that’s not for me,” Amber said. This comes after Amber condemned Molly-Mae’s comments on people having “the same 24 hours in a day”.
