Amanda‘s attorney David A. Esquibias told TMZ that ending her conservatorship has been in the works for a long time and emphasized that it was not set in motion because of Britney Spears‘ case.
David added that while Britney‘s relationship with her parents has largely been acrimonious, Amanda has maintained a close relationship with both her parents.
The lawyer went on to say that the conservatorship was never meant to be in place for the rest of her life but was intended to end, and within the past two years Amanda has made progress in coping with bipolar disorder.
He also said that the actress has also been attending AA and is currently doing very well in her classes at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
