Amanda Abbington has finally broken her silence on her feud with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, slamming him as "nasty and awful". Amanda, 55, and Giovanni, 33 were paired together during last year's Strictly Come Dancing, with Amanda abruptly pulling out of the show amid rumours of a row with Giovanni.
The pro dancer has since been embroiled in controversy over claims of threatening and abusive" behaviour during rehearsals. A claim he vehemently denies.
The BBC is reportedly conducting an internal probe following complaints from his former dance partners, including Amanda, and TV star Laura Whitmore.
Amanda has openly stated that her stint on Strictly last year led to PTSD. Amidst swirling rumours, it was suggested last week that Giovanni had asked the BBC to record their training sessions due to concerns over Amanda's conduct. However, she has now denied these allegations in a conversation with Mail+.
Amanda has claimed that it was her idea to have the rehearsals taped, telling the outlet: "I asked for them to be recorded, it was me. Giovanni is nasty. He was awful to a few of us, a group of us.", reports the Mirror.
She also expressed how the dispute has severely affected her life. Describing the toll it has taken, she continued: "You don't understand how awful this all is. Giovanni's fans have started trolling me now.
I have had to come off social media and I'm getting death threats." She lamented the fallout from her experience on the show, saying: "All of this because I didn't enjoy a television programme. I didn't enjoy it because of all of this." Following the accusations of bullying and the investigation into his conduct, Giovanni reportedly employed lawyers to help clear his name.
