As concern grows over the worldwide spread of COVID-19, commonly known as coronavirus, the entertainment and sports industries are taking proactive measures to keep themselves and their audiences safe from the flu-like virus, which can be fatal in the most extreme cases.

Gene Shay, a folk DJ who spent a half-century on the Philadelphia airwaves and helped promote the careers of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and countless others, has died of complications of the coronavirus.Shay, 85, who had been hospitalized in recent weeks, died Friday, according to WXPN-FM station manager Roger LaMay. His weekly “Folk Show” ran on various stations in the city from 1968 to 2015, the last 20 of them at WXPN.“He was a giant in terms of his impact on artists and the music.

Taylor Swift has canceled her 2020 tour dates — including her Lover Fests — due to the coronavirus pandemic. Her planned U.S. shows will instead take place in 2021.

Soon after the Coronavirus was declared a pandemic by WHO, various live shows, movies, and series production and various other public events were cancelled across the world to encourage social distancing in an attempt to control the spread of the deadly virus. Since the shootings were put on hold, many movies and television series have announced new release dates according to their production schedule.

The Just For Laughs comedy festival, run by a consortium including ICM Partners, Howie Mandel and Bell Media, has postponed its 2020 edition amid the coronavirus pandemic. The annual festival in Montreal where Los Angeles and New York talent scouts discover the "next big thing" for Hollywood sitcoms and movie roles will now run Sept.

Paramount just made some release date changes given the unpredictable coronavirus climate. The long-awaited Tom Cruise Skydance sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” is now going to Dec. 23, instead of June 24. This will push the Chris Pratt sci-fi Skydance movie “The Tomorrow War” to an unset date.
