HBO announced on Monday that its feature documentary The Insurrectionist Next Door, the 15th directed for the premium cabler by Alexandra Pelosi (Pelosi in the House), will premiere on Sunday, October 15 at 9:00 p.m. PT/ET, and will also be available for streaming on Max.
Check out the trailer above.
The latest feature from the daughter of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sees her turn the camera on some of the people who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Through a series of candid interviews conducted over the last two years, she talks to individuals charged with crimes for their participation in the unprecedented events of the day.
The 6th was, of course, the day that a mob of Trump supporters took to Washington in an effort to keep him in power, following his defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential election. Pelosi witnessed its infamous events first hand, having been inside the Capitol on the 6th. She speaks with people who were there in the hopes of having open and unfiltered conversations about what brought them to Washington, D.C. from across the country and how their views may or may not have shifted since that fateful day. The goal was to seek a better understanding of cultural and political views that have polarized the country, without shying away from challenging topics, and a surprisingly forthright set of conversations emerged despite political divides.
Pelosi also produced the HBO Original documentary, with Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller exec producing for HBO. Anna Klein served as coordinating producer.
