An Aldi shopper has shared a time-saving tip for those in a rush at the self-service checkouts.
Grocery shopping can be stressful and the best of times and the single tills are designed to keep customer queues moving. But shoppers are usually left standing as they clamour to locate barcodes on every item to scan.
Luckily, one savvy shopper has revealed how to stream-line the process, making life easier for those in a hurry. The anonymous helper took to Reddit to explain their "pro tip", which they say has many benefits, the Mirror reports.
Writing on the discussion forum, they explained: "Spread out everything in a single layer in your cart with the bar codes facing up. Then use the handheld scanner gun to zip-zip-beep-beep through everything with lightning speed."
The tipster said it means your items don't have to "leave the cart unless you have something that must be weighed, and you never hear the robot voice prompt!"
However, they added that this only works if you don't fill up your trolley with goods. They said: "As you can see this only works for people who don't buy a whole lot of stuff. I don't have a plan yet for people who fill an entire cart!"
Keep in mind this hack only works if there is a scanning gun at your local supermarket, and the items don't have to be placed on a scale to be weighed.
One person said: "All the self checkouts I've used requires the item to be bagged and put on the scale platform. I've not used a self checkout at Aldi yet."
