A unique moment happened on America’s Got Talent tonight – Howie Mandel gave his Golden Buzzer to an audience member!
Maddie Baez, 11, was called up on stage to perform during a commercial break on the competition show during tonight’s (June 7) episode, and when the (most of the) judges heard her, they were floored.

During the episode, Maddie was called up on stage after producers had heard her singing in the audience to perform during the commercial break – and her voice was so powerful that Simon Cowell, who took a break from the table and wandered outside, came back inside to watch her.
After her performance of “Amazing Grace”, Howie gave her the Golden Buzzer!
“I’m gonna do something. From the audience seats right to the live show! Are you ready? … You’re amazing!” Howie said to Maddie just before he pressed the button.
Speaking with People later on, Howie opened up about his decision to do that for Maddie.
“My jaw hit the desk. I was surprised, I was entertained, my heart is still gushing from that moment,” he shared. “There was something about that sound, that clarity, that strength, that made us turn our heads, and not only made us turn our heads, but just say, ‘Wow.’”
Howie continued, “Wow is what I felt, wow is what I heard, and wow is what I did. And I wasn’t alone. The whole audience, they all were chanting, ‘Golden buzzer! Golden buzzer!’ They really don’t do that a lot unless they feel it. And I think that America’s going to feel it.”
