Adam Thomas has hit out at rumours of a “fix” on Strictly Come Dancing this year as he denies he has an unfair advantage.The former Emmerdale star, 34, was announced as the eighth star joining the show on 8 August, but faced backlash after it emerged that his wife Caroline is a trained dancer who owns her own dance school. Caroline, 32, founded the dance school, ABCD Dance in Altrincham, in 2021.Taking to his Instagram account, where he boasts more than a million followers, he said: “Well the news is finally out.” He added, “I do not know what I have gotten myself into as I cannot dance to save my life as you'll probably find out sooner or later.
But you know what, I have been wanting to do this show for so many years now and I cannot believe it is finally happening.” Seeming to address the speculation, he went on to say that he “cannot wait” to take to the dancefloor and “show you how I cannot dance to save my life.” Underneath the clip, Adam further reiterated the claim that he’s no twinkle-toes. “I’ve definitely got my work cut out,” he joked.
It’s not Adam’s first time on reality TV, as back in 2016 he won over audiences during a well received stint in the jungle. Adam, who is the brother of former Love Island contestant Scott Thomas, made it all the way to the final of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! before eventually finishing in third place behind Gogglebox’s Scarlett Moffatt and TV presenter Joel Dommett.
Adam’s decision to join the Strictly Come Dancing line-up comes just days after it emerged that his restaurant had reportedly gone under with debts of 300k. Adam, who has also appeared in Waterloo Road, set up The Spinnn in his native Manchester back in 2019, but the restaurant was hit with troubles.
