The relocation of the show from London to Manchester city centre was announced last year as part of the BBC’s Across The UK plans, to ensure the broadcaster better serves and reflects communities throughout the country.
Gethin and Kym were joined on their first show from the city's ABC studios by Adam as well as Dr Xand van Tulleken, chef Anna Haugh and Strictly Come Dancing professional Graziano Di Prima.
Welsh TV host Gethin, 44, had a medical boot on his left foot after recently undergoing an operation, with his co-host Kym, 45, joking: "It’s a good job there’s a doctor in the house!"
The pair were later joined by Adam, who had some exciting news to share.
He revealed that his niece will star alongside him in the new series of Waterloo Road, which begins filming in Manchester today (Monday).
Adam, who will reprise his role as Dante Charles in the BBC school drama, said: "What I can tell you is my little niece Scarlett Thomas is going to be joining the cast of Waterloo Road."
